Why I’m Coming Back to Art After Putting It on Hold for So Long
April 23, 2026

I’ve been thinking about this for a while—coming back to something I haven’t made space for in a long time.
Life has been full. In good ways, meaningful ways… and also the kind of full where you look up one day and realize the things you meant to get back to somehow kept getting pushed to “later.”
Creativity was one of those things.
For a long time, my focus was on raising my kids and later managing an animal rescue facility. Both of those come with a lot of responsibility—and not a lot of quiet time to sit and paint or figure out how to use a camera.
So creativity became something I squeezed in when I could.
Which, if I’m being honest… wasn’t very often.
Now things look a little different.
My kids are grown. I’ve stepped away from the rescue. And for the first time in a long time, I actually have some space again.
And instead of immediately filling it with something else (which is very tempting), I decided to try something I’ve been putting off for years.
Come back to this.
I’ll be honest—I don’t really know what I’m doing yet.
I’m a little rusty.
I’m definitely out of practice.
And I’ve already had a few moments of “wait… how did I used to do this?”
But I also know I don’t need to have it all figured out to start.
So that’s what this is.
Not a big, polished plan.
Not a “watch me become amazing at this” situation.
Just me, showing up, making things, and figuring it out as I go.
This space is where I’ll share that process.
What I’m making.
What’s working.
What’s not working (probably a decent amount of that).
All of it—honestly, imperfectly, and without overthinking it too much… which is a bit of a work in progress for me.
If you’ve ever had something you meant to come back to and just… didn’t yet, I get it.
I’m starting now.
